FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why Should I Budget?     Controlling your financial affairs requires a budget.  For many people, the word "budget" has a negative connotation.  Instead of thinking of a budget as financial handcuffs, think of it as a means to achieve financial success.   Whether you make thousands of dollars a year or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, a budget is the first and most important step you can take towards putting your money to work for you instead of being controlled by it and forever falling short of your financial goals.

How can you help with my debts?     If you’re having trouble with credit cards, store cards or even your mortgage, the first thing you should do is call your lender.  Budgets ‘R’ Us can do this for you as we do not have the emotional connection you have, we are often better able to negotiate on your behalf.  An interest rate on credit cards may be lowered or even stopped for a period of time to help you catch up.  Being proactive is always the best approach

What is a Debt Agreement (also known as Part IX)?     A Debt Agreement will consolidate all of your unsecured debts into just one amount. All that is required is one regular weekly payment that you can afford, in terms of your budget.  A Debt Agreement will allow you to:

Ø Consolidate all your debts

Ø  Freeze all accruing interest

Ø  Restore your peace of mind

Ø  Stop creditors and debt collectors harassing you

Does a Debt Agreement affect my credit rating?     Yes – entering into a Debt Agreement will be noted by credit reporting agencies.  This mean you will have difficulty getting further credit.

How much does it cost?  We offer a couple of different packages depending on your requirements.  Just give Budgets ‘R’ Us a call and we will happily discuss with you over the phone.  There is no commitment until you decide to invite us to your home.

How quickly can you prepare a budget?  We can usually prepare a budget within a week, but if we need to negotiate some debts it may take a little longer.
